World No.2: Ej Obiena Bested America’s Chris Nilsen in the Men’s Pole Vault Rankings

Ernest John Obiena makes Filipinos proud as he shared on social media that he is now World Number Two in the Men’s Pole Vault Rankings. Ej scored 1,432 ranking points, beating American Chris Nilsen.

The Filipino pole vaulter shared his success on Twitter, saying,

“Your very own skinny kid from Tondo, alumni of CKSC and UST, is now WORLD NUMBER TWO.”

He also wrote a ‘thank you message’ to his supporters and those who made it possible for him to continue his dream.

“This is not just my accomplishment alone, but everyone’s,”

The young athlete is qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Moreover, he cleared 5.82 m in the BAUHAUS-Galan leg of the Diamond League which was held in Stockholm, Sweden.
