The universe has semi-spoken; the new Miss Universe Philippines has been crowned.
Michelle Dee emerged as the victor beating the other 37 candidates during Miss Universe Philippines 2023 on May 13. Dee is now next in line to represent the Philippines in the most awaited Miss Universe competition.
But who is Michelle Dee? Who is the girl behind the crown? Let’s find out.
Michelle Dee is the 28-year-old daughter of former beauty queen Melanie Marquez. Melanie Marques was Miss International in 1979. She is also the cousin of Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 Winwyn Marquez.
Before becoming Miss Universe Philippines, Michelle Dee was crowned Miss World Philipines in 2019, represented the country during the Miss World 2019, and made it to the Top 12 semifinals.
She also participated in the Miss Universe Philippines 2022. She came in second place and was crowned Miss Universe Philippines Tourism 2022.
Michelle shared in an interview with Preview that pageantry never crossed her mind. However, she reconsidered when she became a judge for the Mister World Pageant. The new Miss Universe Philippines saw how Filipinos embrace and support pageantry, and that’s when she decided to try her luck.Â
