In time for Valentine’s Day, Tinder has recently introduced the new Blind Date feature to increase its popularity among young people by allowing them to meet potential partners in a way similar to the pre-smartphone era.

The dating app’s latest feature connects people based on their likes and allows them to communicate before viewing each other’s images. It will be available in the United States soon, followed by a global rollout.

Tinder says the feature is in response to generation Z’s demand for more authentic connections, which is commonly described as people born between 1997 and 2012, as a reaction to online dating’s previous emphasis on superficial judgments based on smooth Instagram-ready photographs on dating profiles.

“Blind Date gives the daters of today a low-pressure way to put their personality first and find a match they truly vibe with,” – Tinder

The new ‘Blind Date’ feature will be in the app’s Explore section and is part of Tinder’s Fast Chat offerings — which include Hot Takes, Vibes, Swipe Night and Music Mode and are designed to fuel connections faster with prompts, quizzes, and games.
