Hyundai Cebu unveils the STARGAZER, the PALISADE, and the All-New IONIQ 5

CEBU CITY – Hyundai Cebu, Inc. (HCI) expands its model line-up with the local launch of the all new STARGAZER MPV, as well as with the showing of the CRETA Compact SUV, the PALISADE Full Size SUV and the IONIQ 5 Crossover Electric Vehicle. These joined HCI’s current offerings, including Hyundai’s global best-selling TUCSON SUV, the new mid-sized SANTA FE SUV, and the all-new STARIA Van.

The event, held on the evening of November 17, 2022 at the Hyundai Cebu South Showroom, was attended by top executives of Hyundai Motor Philippines, Inc. (HMPH), led by Chief Finance Officer Hongshik Chin and Deputy General Manager for Vehicle Sales Victor Vela.

In his welcome remarks, HCI President Edward Onglatco introduced HMPH, a subsidiary of the Hyundai Motor Group, as the country’s new principals for Hyundai. “For us, this day marks a significant milestone—indeed a new start and a new journey—as we shift to new gears in propelling the brand and renewing our commitment to our partners and customers here in Cebu together with our new principals.” Mr. Onglatco also mentioned his family has represented the brand for 30 years already which was started by his late father Eduardo Onglatco.

“We at Hyundai Cebu Group would like to thank you for the trust and support extended to us the past six months since HMPH was launched in the country,”

HE SAID.

Meanwhile, Mr. Chin emphasized HMPH’s commitment to work and grow alongside HCI in catering to Filipinos.

With the STARGAZER, the brand is putting forward a new era in the local MPV segment through futuristic styling, advanced driver assistance technologies as well as premium space and comfort. This 7-seater model was made to suit Filipino families that are looking for a smart purchase that can meet their daily mobility needs and match their modern lifestyle and taste.

The STARGAZER notably features a one-curve silhouette for enhanced aerodynamics, and a horizontal LED strip on the fascia that cuts across and integrates the Day Time Running Lights (DRL) and positioning lamps. Inside, this MPV leads in respect to head room, leg room and shoulder room; and makes getting in and out or moving around the second and third rows easy.

These passenger rows are also not just highly configurable but have slim seatbacks to enable a wider flat loading surface for cargo when fully folded down.

The driving performance of the STARGAZER was fine-tuned to the regional climate and road conditions of the ASEAN region. This is evident through the excellent engine output, precise handling, trust-worthy braking, and top noise, vibration, and harshness (N.V.H.) ratings.

Running on a 1.5 Smartstream Intelligent Variable Transmission (iVT) engine, it produces 115-ps of power and 14.7 kg-m of torque. iVT is one of the brand’s flagship proprietary technologies that configured to shift gears more responsively with less delay or lag resulting to a smoother and more enjoyable ride while having better fuel economy. Whereas Smartstream, is the next-generation powertrain line of Hyundai vehicles developed for optimal airflow, heat and friction control, more effective combustion, and reduced exhaust that better regulate gasoline consumption.

Spotlight in motion.

Hyundai’s latest crossover SUV is the CRETA, designed for those who are always on the lookout for conquering new challenges.

The five-seater CRETA stands out on the road with its parametric jewel pattern grille and hidden type LED DRL, as well as the 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheel. Inside, the 10.25-inch full TFT LCD meter cluster technilogy and 9-inch display audio are integrated with your smartphone, giving you a personal touch on every journey.

Armed with a Smartstream 1.5L engine with an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) system, it produces tough, responsive, and efficient performance. It also features a Drive Mode feature for a choice of the driving style that suits you best. It also comes with Hyundai Smartsense features such as Lane Following Assist, Blind-spot Collision-avoidance Assist, and Rear View Monitor.

Hyundai’s flagship SUV, the PALISADE shows all the traits of a leader. Both muscular and elegant, it projects a powerful presence with premium qualities that get noticed.

The PALISADE is a 7-seater luxury SUV, and every detail conveys a premium look and feel, From the bold grille to the futuristic design of the alloy wheels, and the uniquely configured DRL add extra emphasis to the wide, stable stance. For stylistic unity and harmony, rear combination lamps mirror the design of the front LEDs. The cabin ambiance is luxurious with light, sporty touches that hint at PALISADE’s exciting driving dynamics.

The contoured seats offer excellent support for thigh and back muscles and will have you looking forward to long, relaxing drives. Thoughtfully laid out instrument controls promote safety by keeping hand-eye movements to a minimum.

The PALISADE’s gasoline and diesel engines are mated to a revised 8-speed automatic transmission that features new friction reduction technologies for smoother, quieter shifting and better fuel efficiency. The same gearbox is applied to the diesel engine. HTRAC, Hyundai’s all wheel drive system, is equipped with a multi-terrain controller that improves off-road escape performance.

Power up the future.

The new Hyundai IONIQ 5, with supplies to arrive the Philippines starting January 2023, was also previewed at the event on November 17, 2022. This fully-electric vehicle already has a slate of awards, being the only electric vehicle with a TRIPLE WIN bagging the 2022 World Car of the Year, 2022 World Electric Vehicle of the Year and the 2022 World Car Design of the Year from the 2022 World Car Awards during the 2022 New York International Auto Show. Last year, it was recognized as 2021 German Car of the Year and 2021 UK Car of the Year.

The five-seater IONIQ 5 boasts of a futuristic design with Hyundai’s pixel lighting theme, pop-out

handles, and two 12-inch screens for the digital cockpit and the infotainment system, among other features. It comes in 58kWh and 72.6kWh battery options, up to 481 of range on a single charge and ultra-fast charging capabilities. The charging time is rated at around 5 to 6 hours on an AC Home charger and 8 to 9 hours on a portable charger, both chargers are included on the vehicle upon delivery. The IONIQ 5 will also charge from 0-100% for only 46 to 57 minutes using a DC fast charger, which will be available soon at the dealership and several malls and gas stations.

Inside, the IONIQ 5 gives off an original yet timeless feel, blending both analog and digital elements for a familiar yet ultimately new driving experience. All its interior use recycled and environment friendly materials.
