Cebu logs 72 new cases on January 17

On Sunday night, the Department of Health Central Visayas (DOH-7) released its official, consolidated data of the COVID-19 cases in the region as of January 17, 2020.

Today, the whole island of Cebu — Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, and the Cebu Province — recorded 72 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, no new recoveries, and 1 new death. This brings Cebu’s total confirmed cases to 24,306, while the active cases have increased to 1,148 (from 1,077).

Cebu’s recovery rate is now at 89.50%.

Breakdown of cases:

– Total confirmed: 11,433 (+44 new)

– Total deaths: 700 (+1 new)
– Active cases: 613

📍 Lapu-Lapu City
– Total confirmed: 2,737 (+3 new)
– Total recoveries: 2,541 (+0 new)
– Total deaths: 112 (+0 new)
– Active cases: 84

📍 Mandaue City
– Total confirmed: 2,805 (+9 new)
– Total recoveries: 2,524 (+5 new)
– Total deaths: 172 (+0 new)
– Active cases: 109

📍 Cebu Province
– Total confirmed: 7,331 (+16 new)
– Total recoveries: 6,570 (+0 new)
– Total deaths: 419 (+0 new)
– Active cases: 342
