On Monday night, the Department of Health Central Visayas (DOH-7) released its official, consolidated data of the COVID-19 cases in the region as of August 23, 2021.
Today, the whole island of Cebu — Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, and the Cebu Province — recorded 654 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, 987 new recoveries, and 53 new deaths. This brings Cebu’s total confirmed cases to 86,890, while the active cases dropped to 13,932 (from 14,310).
Breakdown of cases:
Cebu City
– Total confirmed: 36,275 (+206 new)
– Total recoveries: 30,500 (+294 new)
– Total deaths: 1,111 (+12 new)
– Active cases: 4,664
Lapu-Lapu City
– Total confirmed: 11,318 (+132 new)
– Total recoveries: 9,459 (+220 new)
– Total deaths: 295 (+2 new)
– Active cases: 1,564
Mandaue City
– Total confirmed: 10,258 (+114 new)
– Total recoveries: 8,024 (+29 new)
– Total deaths: 299 (+3 new)
– Active cases: 1,935
Cebu Province
– Total confirmed: 29,039 (+202 new)
– Total recoveries: 21,902 (+444 new)
– Total deaths: 1,368 (+36 new)
– Active cases: 5,769
