Cebu logs 315 new cases on March 21

On Sunday night, the Department of Health Central Visayas (DOH-7) released its official, consolidated data of the COVID-19 cases in the region as of March 21, 2021.

Today, the whole island of Cebu — Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, and the Cebu Province — recorded 315 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, 220 new recoveries, and 1 new death. This brings Cebu’s total confirmed cases to 43,567, while the active cases increased to 6,261 (from 6,160).

Breakdown of cases:

Cebu City
– Total confirmed: 20,669 (+157 new)
– Total recoveries: 17,383 (+55 new)
– Total deaths: 778 (+0 new)
– Active cases: 2,508

Lapu-Lapu City
– Total confirmed: 5,268 (+29 new)
– Total recoveries: 4,076 (+79 new)
– Total deaths: 130 (+0 new)
– Active cases: 1,062

Mandaue City
– Total confirmed: 5,308 (+47 new)
– Total recoveries: 3,997 (+67 new)
– Total deaths: 197 (+0 new)
– Active cases: 1,114

Cebu Province
– Total confirmed: 12,322 (+82 new)
– Total recoveries: 10,225 (+19 new)
– Total deaths: 520 (+1 new)
– Active cases: 1,577

  • Total Recoveries in Cebu: 35,681 (+220 new)

A total of 2,545 laboratory results were released for today.

  • *As per DOH-7, the additional deaths in the report are not due to the overnight spike in deaths but due to more accurate data collection and validating efforts. Not all of those deaths occurred today but occurred more than a week ago.
