Estratehiya

Photo from Pexels

Photo from Pexels

Pagpusta sa over/under batay sa istatistika

Dining at Yappari Steak Felt Like a Mini Trip to Japan—Here’s Why

We tried Yappari Steak and here’s what we think…

Oh, Cebu—an island packed with experiences, from travel spots and rich culture to all the must-try food waiting around every corner! And when it comes to food, it’s not just the local favorites that shine as it’s also where international flavors rise to transport you elsewhere, like the famous Japanese steak grilled over sizzling lava stones.

What It Feels Like to Dine At Yappari Steak sa Tops

Daghan kaayog food and dining options sa Tops Cebu, but we chose to try Yappari Steak because we heard a lot over the grapevine about it. And so, our experience began when the sunset colored the skies of Cebu’s skyline.

With no expectations (and honestly, a little steak snobbery in us), we weren’t sure what would set this place apart from the many we’ve already tried across the city. But spoiler alert: we left impressed—and full.

First things first, the location and vibe.

Yappari Steak enjoys one of the best seats in the house; literally. It’s located at Tops where you have the option to dine al fresco to take full advantage of the cool breeze and the unobstructed skyline. We were also immediately greeted by the staff who were gracious from the get-go. They even rearranged tables so our group could stay together comfortably. Service? Beyond expectations already! Friendly, warm, and efficient; something you don’t always get when you’re dining uphill.

Taste Test: we ordered the entire menu!

No kidding, we couldn’t decide. So instead of playing favorites, we got decided to have everything from the menu, and here’s what we think:

Beef Curry Rice

One word: COMFORTING! That’s what we felt when we took a spoonful of the Beef Curry Rice. Not to mention, it is such a tasty dish and hits just the right spot for a Japanese-style curry.

Beef Stewed Tendon Rice

Surprisingly, this dish stood out and it’s one of the favorites from our team. Why? Well, because of its melt-in-your-mouth texture paired with its savory flavor; and we Filipinos love our intense savory-style items, right?

Chicken Steak

Definitely not your typical chicken dish. Their Chicken Steak was perfectly cooked and well-seasoned. So, if you have a non-beef eater friend, you can still bring them to Yappari and not worry about what they’ll be having.

Hamburger Steak

Honestly, this was the first thing that caught our eyes as soon as the dishes were served on the table. It just had that look of a juicy and flavorful burger that you’d love to dig into immediately! And it did not disappoint, too! It’s a legit Japanese hambāgu.

Mix Cut Steak

For the indecisive: the Mix Cut Steak is a sampler that lets you taste several cuts. Want the one with a bit of fat? Then you got it! Want the lean parts? Then you have that, too! All of which are well-seasoned and served in cubes.

Karubi Steak

Tender and flavorful, this one won major points with our table.

And of course, the Yappari Steak (Top Blade)

Sizzling over authentic and premium Lava stone that came from Mt. Fuji, the signature Yappari Steak, was the star of the show! When it was served, the dish was a full-on sensory experience since you can hear it, smell it, and taste the flavors of Japan right in front of you. We ordered the medium rare steak and we were delightfully greeted with the right amount of seasoned juicy slices!

Bringing Okinawan Lava Stone Grilling to Cebu

Since opening last May 5, 2024 at The Circle in TOPS, Cebu City, Yappari Steak has been killing it; which explains why they’ve already launched another branch at SM JMall and even expanded to Cebu IT Park, setting up at AsiaTown, Skyrise 3, inside the Qualfon Building. This move brings their one-of-a-kind lava stone grilling experience closer to the city’s business district, making it super convenient for professionals and foodies to get a taste.

Whether you’re a steak lover, a fan of Japanese flavors, or just looking for a spot to impress friends, Yappari Steak is worth the drive, be it uphill to TOPS, at the city center at IT Park, or to another city at SM JMall. Just be sure to come hungry, arrive curious, and maybe… come before sunset.

Altcoins Are Outperforming Bitcoin! Bull Run 2025: 3 Coins That Could 100x

The cryptocurrency market is heating up again and though it might not be reflected on the daily charts, things are getting hot in the background. Specifically, altcoins are starting to beat Bitcoin, a trend which can shape the next phase of the 2025 bull run.

Popular analyst Michaël van de Poppe recently shared his bullish outlook, sparking interest among traders and investors alike. With many altcoins forming strong higher lows and confirming buying pressure, some market watchers believe we’re heading into a massive 6–8 week rally.

But as always in crypto, timing is everything. So the question is: Which altcoins have the potential to deliver life-changing returns and possibly 100x gains in this cycle? Below, we dive into three standout picks that could turn early investments into massive wins.

Is the 2025 Altcoin Bull Run Already Here?

A quick glance at CoinMarketCap shows a somewhat gloomy picture in the short term. Most major cryptocurrencies are in the red, with only a handful showing minor gains:

  • PAX Gold (PAXG): +1.17%
  • Tether Gold (XAUT): +1.12%
  • Monero (XMR): +0.48%
  • KuCoin Token (KCS): +0.13%

Overall, the global crypto market cap shrank by 1.75% overnight, leading many to assume the market is still consolidating. But van de Poppe argues otherwise.

“All altcoins are making higher lows and confirming buying pressure.

M2 supply is rising, and Bitcoin is ready for a new all-time high.

Altcoins outperform Bitcoin on every upward move.

I think we’re in for a great 6–8 week period.”

@CryptoMichNL on X (May 18, 2025)

His analysis reflects growing sentiment among experienced traders that altcoins are preparing for a breakout, even while the broader market appears quiet. With the right timing and strategy, this period could offer rare entry points into high-potential projects particularly those in presale or early-stage listings.

So, which altcoins should you keep an eye on? Here are three coins with the potential to deliver 100x returns, according to market trends and investor interest.

1. BTC Bull Token (BTCBULL)

Current Price: $0.00252

100x Target: $0.252

First on the list is BTC Bull Token (BTCBULL), a new meme coin with a twist: it’s tied to Bitcoin’s price movements, offering token holders automatic BTC rewards as Bitcoin hits new highs.

The token’s utility doesn’t stop there. Investors can also earn passive income through staking, making it appealing for both short-term and long-term holders. This combination of meme coin hype, passive income, and Bitcoin exposure is rare and it’s driving substantial capital into the project.

So far, BTCBULL has raised $5.97 million from investors during its presale. The token is expected to increase in price in about 48 hours, so early buyers have a limited window to enter at the current rate.

If BTCBULL delivers on its roadmap, a 100x move to $0.252 is not out of the question and even that would still be considered “cheap” compared to some previous meme coin explosions.

  • Memecoin appeal
  • Staking rewards
  • BTC-linked gains
  • Ongoing presale discounts

2. OFFICIAL TRUMP (TRUMP)

Current Price: $12.57

100x Target: $1,257

Next up is a coin that has made headlines for more than just price action: OFFICIAL TRUMP (TRUMP), the self-proclaimed meme coin of the U.S. President Donald Trump.

The token surged to an all-time high of $75.35, but has since corrected to $12.57. While a 10x move to $125 would already be a huge win, analysts believe it has the potential to go far beyond that, possibly breaking the $1,000 barrier during the heat of the election cycle.

Political tokens are nothing new, but Trump Coin is in a league of its own due to its high-profile association. The 2024 U.S. election cycle brought waves of interest to politically themed cryptocurrencies and with the 2025 aftermath still dominating headlines, TRUMP could see a second surge.

If momentum builds again, a 100x move from $12.57 to $1,257 isn’t as far-fetched as it seems.

  • Political relevance
  • Viral potential
  • Huge community support
  • Highly speculative use caution

3. Solaxy (SOLX)

Current Price: $0.001728

100x Target: $0.1728

Finally, we have Solaxy (SOLX) a Layer-2 scaling solution for Solana that is already in presale and already making waves with its $38 million raised in capital.

Solana has been complimented for its speed and cheap fees but has also experienced repeated outages and congestion issues as traffic picks up. Solaxy seeks to address that by implementing a solid Layer-2 protocol, which would improve scalability and enable smoother meme coin trading on the Solana network.

Beyond infrastructure improvements, Solaxy offers staking options during presale with returns reportedly as high as 107% annually, according to their official site. This combination of technical innovation and DeFi incentives has captured the attention of both retail and institutional investors.

At just $0.001728, a 100x return would value the token at $0.1728, potentially making early backers very happy if the project gains traction after exchange listings.

  • First Layer-2 on Solana
  • Staking yields up to 107%
  • $38M already raised
  • Presale ends soon

Is Now the Time to Buy?

With altcoins starting to outperform Bitcoin and analysts predicting a breakout in the next few weeks, the current dip might actually be a golden opportunity for forward-looking investors. Each of the coins mentioned BTC Bull Token (BTCBULL), OFFICIAL TRUMP (TRUMP), and Solaxy (SOLX) offers a unique use case and compelling narrative heading into the bull run.

  • BTCBULL rides the wave of Bitcoin’s dominance while rewarding holders.
  • TRUMP taps into viral political energy with massive upside potential.
  • SOLX aims to fix Solana’s biggest flaw while offering high-yield staking.

If you believe in buying low and selling high, now may be the time to act especially with BTCBULL and SOLX still in presale. But again, make sure to assess the risks, understand the project fundamentals, and never invest based solely on hype.

Don’t Forget: Crypto Is Still High Risk

Before rushing into any of these coins, remember the golden rule of crypto investing: Do your own research (DYOR). While these coins show impressive potential, there are no guarantees in the crypto space. Prices are volatile, and market sentiment can shift quickly. Only invest what you’re willing to lose.

OFW Engineers Now Have a Shot at Aviation Careers When They Return Home

It’s not every day we hear about job opportunities that help our fellow Filipinos return home, but Cebu Pacific just dropped something special for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the engineering field.

Photo from Cebu Pacific Official Facebook Page

Cebu Pacific, one of our country’s leading low-cost airlines, has launched the “Juan Flight Closer to Home” program this May, a new hiring initiative that specifically calls out to Filipino engineers abroad to come home and build a career in aviation right here in the Philippines.

Photo from Canva

Let’s be real: many of our kababayans leave to find better opportunities overseas, but this latest move feels like a warm welcome home, paired with solid support for those making the big transition.

Positions You Can Apply For

They’re not just offering any jobs, the airline is opening engineering roles that require real skill and experience, making it a perfect fit for returning OFWs who’ve worked in the global aviation space. Here are just some of the positions available:

Photo from Cebu Pacific Official Facebook Page

Basically, if you’ve been around aircrafts and know your way around maintenance, structure, or systems, then you have a chance.

Moving back home from abroad isn’t always easy, but this airline gets it. That’s why the “Juan Flight Closer to Home” program also comes with a relocation package, designed to ease the transition.

Here’s what’s included:

  • Free flight back to Manila, and with baggage allowance
  • One-time relocation assistance
  • Travel benefits for the employee and their dependents
  • Healthcare coverage starting on day one

Honestly, that’s a big deal, especially the part where your family is included and having an actual HMO coverage!

Photo from Canva

They’ve Already Started Hiring

Even before the official launch, the airline shared that over 10 engineers have already joined the team through the program. The hiring process isn’t based on numbers, though; it’s more about matching your skills with their  operational needs, so you’re not just filling a slot, you’re taking on a role that matters.

So, if you’re an OFW engineer or you know someone who is, this could be the sign you’ve been waiting for; it’s a chance to finally come back and build something here in our very own country.

Your Quick Guide to Jog-Worthy Parks in Cebu City

Summer na and therefore, it’s time for us to get that revenge body!

Photo from Pexels

If you’re like us and need a good dose of lihok in the morning (or evening) plus some greenery to go with it, then we are really in for a treat as Cebu has surprising places that blend concrete with calm. Whether you’re a serious runner or just in it for the walk-and-think moments, here are some of our go-to spots to jog in Cebu—with actual trees and a hint of nature.

Plaza Independencia, Cebu City

Old-school charm, historic vibe, and wide open spaces. Plaza Independencia is the kind of place you go to if you want a peaceful jog a few blocks away from the chaos of traffic. There’s a nice loop you can go around, and the greenery adds a sense of calm you don’t often get in the middle of the city.

Pro Tip: Choose your own jogging path or circle as there are several loops. You can opt for short or farther turning points to get you sweating. And if you need to warm up, you can choose the area in the middle as its spacious.

How to Get There?

Exact Location: Located near the Cebu Port and Fort San Pedro at M.J. Cuenco Ave, Cebu City, Cebu, Philippines

  • By Commute: PUJs heading to Pier Area or Colon will drop you nearby. Just inform the driver that you’ll be going to “Plaza Independencia.”
  • By Car: If you’re bringing a car, just navigate via Waze or Google Maps and pin “Plaza Independencia” as your destination. There’s limited parking beside the Fort San Pedro entrance.

CBP Central Park (Cebu Business Park)

Ayala vibes but with a laid-back twist. The Central Park area inside CBP is one of the newest spots in the Queen City of the South. It has jogging paths and benches for when you’re exhausted. It’s mostly quiet in the early mornings and the breeze flows nicely between the buildings, but joggers often arrive at the place during sunset.

How to Get There?

Exact Location: Beside City Sports Club Cebu at Cardinal Rosales Avenue, Cebu Business Park.

  • By Commute: Jeepneys passing through Barrio Luz, Ayala Center Cebu, or Escario usually stop nearby, such as 14D and 13C.
  • By Car: There’s paid parking at Ayala or street parking early in the morning. Just navigate via Waze or Google Maps and pin “CBP Central Park” as your destination.

Fuente Osmeña Circle

This iconic roundabout isn’t just for the Sinulog parade or rallies, joggers make the loop around the inner circle in the mornings, and it’s actually kind of meditative with the trees and city sounds mixing together. Best done before 6 AM, though—it gets crowded after that.

How to Get There?

Exact Location: Right at the heart of Cebu City at Jones Avenue and General Maxilom Avenue.

  • By Commute: Almost every major route passes through Fuente such as any jeepney route going to Guadalupe 06C, and even going to Ayala, 14D.
  • By Car: Parking can be tricky, but Robinsons Fuente has pay parking nearby so just pin either “Robinsons Fuente” or simply “Fuente” as your destination.

Cebu IT Park

Photo from Cebu IT Park Official Facebook Page

More concrete than grass, yes, but surprisingly decent for night jogs. The pathways are wide, the area is safe, and the energy is just right—not too quiet, not too crazy. Some parts of IT Park are being re-landscaped too, so it’s slowly getting greener.

Photo from Cebu IT Park Official Facebook Page
Photo from Cebu IT Park Official Facebook Page

How to Get There?

Exact Location: Lahug, across JY Square at W. Geonzon Street corner J. Abad Santos.

  • By Commute: PUJs bound for IT Park or Lahug such as 04L will take you directly, just inform the driver that you’ll be dropping off at IT Park.
  • By Car: IT Park has multiple paid parking areas and you can easily navigate going to the area by pinning “Cebu IT Park” as your destination.

Senior Citizens Park (a.k.a. Millennium Park)

It’s right behind City Hall and just in front of the Santo Niño Church, this park is one of the most underrated. There’s a wide flat space perfect for light jogging or even stretching and quiet breathing. It is dedicated for, you guessed it, senior citizens; but, you can definitely still go and enjoy the view.

How to Get There?

Exact Location: Behind Cebu City Hall and near Basilica Minore del Santo Niño.

  • By Commute: PUJs to Colon or Santo Niño will get you nearby, such as 62C and 01K will be your best bet.
  • By Car: Limited parking at the back of City Hall, or walk from Plaza Independencia, but you can definitely just pin “Cebu City Hall” as your destination.

So, Sugboanons, you don’t need a gym membership to start moving. Sometimes all you need is a bit of greenery, a good playlist, and a little reminder that Cebu still has spaces to breathe in.

CBP Central Park at Night: The Chillest New Spot After Sundown in the City

Cue: main character energy…

There’s something about the Cebu Business Park at night that feels like a soft reset, especially now with the newly opened Central Park. Usahay strolling through its pathways makes it feel like you’re in a movie. So, whether you’re winding down from a long workday or just looking for a safe and quiet place to catch up with friends, or your thoughts, this spot hits differently when the sun goes down.

We visited CBP Central Park in the evening and, let’s just say, we weren’t expecting to fall in love with a patch of grass in the middle of the city. But we did. Hard.

A City Park That Actually Feels Like a Park

You might think that after the sun sets, the park would be filled with people. And yes, there are some—families, couples, solo joggers—but not too many to distract your peace of mind. There’s a gentle kind of crowd here. The kind that respects the vibe.

The park is clean, beautifully lit with warm ambient lighting, and surrounded by trees that help lessen the usual city noise of Cebu.

What You Can Do at CBP Central Park at Night

Here are a few simple, low-effort-but-feels-good activities to do once the city lights are on:

  • Evening stroll – Leave your bike at the parking area and take a nice, easy walk. Your knees will thank you. There’s something about walking at your own pace, under trees, with just enough breeze that makes everything feel lighter.
  • Run around – For the sporty ones out there, you can jog around Central Park as they have looped running paths in the perimeter.
  • Play games – The benches are perfect for card games like UNO, Exploding Kittens, or whatever you brought from your barkada kit. Or, if you’re the playful type, go ahead and run around on the open grass.
  • Casual picnic – Bring a blanket, a tumbler, and maybe some chips from the nearby stores. You don’t need a full charcuterie board, just something to munch on while you watch the stars (yes, you can kind of see them if the clouds behave). If you don’t have anything prepped, then worry not for there is a food stall called “Andale” where they serve varieties of meals. There is also a farmer’s market stall for the health conscious eater.
  • Dog walks – It’s surprisingly pet-friendly. We saw a couple of fur parents walking their dogs and chilling under the trees. Just make sure to clean up after your pup!
  • Solo decompress – If you just need to be alone with your playlist and your thoughts, this is the spot. Sit under a tree, play that one song on repeat, and zone out for a while. You’re safe here.

Nganu magpagabie man jud?

Simple: No heat, no rush, no stress. The lights lining the walkways and trees give the whole place a soft, kinda magical glow. There’s a bit of a romantic vibe going on, especially if you hang out near the benches or find a quiet spot under the trees.

And let’s be real, it’s Cebu. We all know the sun can be unforgiving. At night, the park turns into a cool (literally and figuratively) escape from the usual traffic, crowds, and noise. Plus, it’s pretty Instagrammable!

How to Get There?

  • By Foot: If you’re already in Cebu Business Park or at Ayala Center Cebu, just walk! You won’t miss it. You just have to pass by City Sports Club Cebu and you’ll find the park right there.
  • By Car/Taxi: Ask to be dropped off near the City Sports Club Cebu or the Citibank area—both are right next to the park.
  • By Commute: Ride any jeep heading to Ayala such as 14D. From the terminal, it’s just a 3-5 minute walk.

After the Crown: Pia Wurtzbach Finds Her Soft Era as “Pia Jauncey”

It’s more than just a name change…

Photo from @piajauncey on Instagram

If you’ve been keeping an eye on your feed lately, you might’ve noticed something subtle but significant: Pia Wurtzbach is now Pia Jauncey on Instagram.

Yes, the Miss Universe 2015, actress, advocate, and all-around Filipina icon is embracing a new chapter, not just in life, but in name.

Romero to Wurtzbach to Jauncey

Photo from @piajauncey on Instagram

For a lot of us, Pia will always be the woman who made history in that iconic blue gown, putting the Philippines back on the Miss Universe map. But before all that, she was Pia Romero in showbiz, until she stepped into the pageant world and reclaimed her real surname, Wurtzbach.

Photo from @piajauncey on Instagram

Fast forward to today, and we’re meeting Pia Jauncey; wife, soon-to-be mom (hinaot unta!), and a woman who’s proudly settling into the soft, secure version of life she’s worked so hard for.

She made it official not just in interviews, but right on social media, changing her socmed handles and embracing her married name after tying the knot with travel entrepreneur Jeremy Jauncey in 2023. Two years in, it’s clear that this isn’t just about a name, it’s about growth, transition, and peace.

In Honor of No Longer Being Alone

Photo from @piajauncey on Instagram

After spending most of her life grinding, supporting her family, chasing dreams, facing the spotlight, she’s now choosing softness. Stability. Wholeness. A home that’s hers, in every sense.

As she put it beautifully, even the crowns and glam can’t compete with the joy of knowing you’re no longer carrying everything on your own.

Pia Jauncey isn’t just a new name, it’s a new season, and frankly, we’re here for it.

Theme

GSK 2025 is more than just a one-night celebration. It is a call to action to explore, engage, and embrace our heritage beyond May 23. By spotlighting the youth as “batan-ong bahandi,” or young treasures, GSK 2025 champions the idea that the stories of the past are best carried forward by the energy, creativity, and passion of the new generation. From student-led performances to interactive exhibits and youth-centered activities, this year’s celebration recognizes young people not only as audiences—but as active stewards of culture.

Activities

Exciting nighttime activities await all participants—whether young or young at heart! Each site will feature dynamic programs inspired by the energy of the youth, with many activities led or designed by young people themselves. For barkadas and groups looking for a thrill, the annual Gabii sa Kabilin Heritage Hunt returns, promising another round of adventure, discovery, and fun under the stars.

A standout feature this year is the mural competition, taking place on selected walls within Cebu City’s heritage district. This competition gives budding artists the opportunity to showcase their creativity and transform public spaces into vibrant works of art. It’s a celebration of local talent, and the winners will be revealed during the GSK Opening Program.

In addition to these exciting activities, our partner sites have been actively engaged in capacity-building efforts focused on sustainability through the Habilin program. These include seminars and talks on Curation, Risk Management, Social Media 101, and the Department of Tourism’s Filipino Brand of Service Excellence, all aimed at empowering local communities for lasting impact.

On and on

Gabii sa Kabilin owes its success to the invaluable support of its partner museums and the steadfast commitment of the four local government units of Cebu, Mandaue, Talisay, and Lapu-Lapu City. The event is also made possible through the contributions of various organizations and government agencies, including the Department of Tourism Region VII, Golden Prince Hotel, Islands Souvenirs, Cebu IT Park, Visayan Electric Company, and PhilChoco.

Gabii sa Kabilin, initiated in 2007 by the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI), continues to grow in scope and significance, drawing thousands of participants each year and reinforcing the message that heritage is not static—it is living, evolving, and deeply woven into everyday life.

Let this year’s GSK inspire all Cebuanos—young and old—to rediscover their roots, celebrate shared stories, and build a stronger cultural future. Because heritage doesn’t live in the past—it lives in us.

The new store design, reimagined to resemble a European gentleman’s club, welcomed guests into a space that embodies the brand’s ethos — refined, understated, and designed with purpose. Rich textures, tailored finishes, and a contemporary interior palette provided the perfect canvas to reintroduce Sledgers to Cebuano style setters.

The Noel Penny Loafer took the spotlight — Sledgers’ flagship model, now updated with a shortened vamp and pre-polished leather that gives it a clean, straight-from-the-box shine. It arrives this season in black and coffee, with a new wine colorway featuring a contrasting black rubber outsole.

Also on view were two new lace-up models: the Danilo and Pietro derbies. Designed in full and top-grain calf leather, both styles are built for everyday wear but with thoughtful touches — curved piping, sculpted vamps, and sturdy outsoles — that give each pair a polished look without feeling overdesigned. As with all Sledgers footwear, Ortholite insoles come standard, ensuring all-day comfort with every step.

A styling showcase led by fellow Sledgers wearers offered guests modern takes on incorporating Sledgers footwear into a range of everyday looks — from boardroom polish to weekend ease — reinforcing the brand’s vision of stylish, all-day wearability.

Founded in France in 1921 and first introduced to the Philippines in Cebu over 20 years ago, Sledgers remains committed to crafting shoes for the man who moves with intention.
