Cebu logs 179 new cases on February 16

On Wednesday evening, the Department of Health Central Visayas (DOH-7) released its official, consolidated data of the COVID-19 cases in the region as of February 16, 2022.

The whole island of Cebu — Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, and Cebu Province — recorded 179 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, 717 new recoveries, and 3 new deaths. Cebu’s total active cases declined to 5,253 (from 5,786).

Cebu City
– Total confirmed: 53,122 (+78 new)
– Total recoveries: 48,486 (+141 new)
– Total deaths: 1,647 (+3 new)
– Active cases: 2,989

Lapu-Lapu City
– Total confirmed: 16,896 (+17 new)
– Total recoveries: 15,732 (+275 new)
– Total deaths: 493 (+0 new)
– Active cases: 671

Mandaue City
– Total confirmed: 15,256 (+14 new)
– Total recoveries: 14,472 (+58 new)
– Total deaths: 483 (+0 new)
– Active cases: 301

Cebu Province
– Total confirmed: 45,578 (+70 new)
– Total recoveries: 41,568 (+243 new)
– Total deaths: 2,718 (+0 new)
– Active cases: 1,292

• Total Active Cases in Cebu: 5,253 (from 5,786)
• Total Confirmed Cases in Cebu: 130,852 (+179 new)
• Total Recoveries in Cebu: 120,258 (+717 new)
• Total Deaths in Cebu: 5,341 (+3 new)

A total of 1,746 laboratory results were released.

NOTES from DOH-7:

• *As per DOH-7, the additional deaths in the report are not due to the overnight spike in deaths but due to more accurate data collection and validating efforts. Not all of those deaths occurred today but occurred more than a week ago.
