On Sunday night, the Department of Health Central Visayas (DOH-7) released its official, consolidated data of the COVID-19 cases in the region as of August 29, 2021.
Today, the whole island of Cebu — Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, and the Cebu Province — recorded 530 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, 708 new recoveries, and 7 new deaths. This brings Cebu’s total confirmed cases to 90,775, while the active cases increased to 13,499 (from 13,683).
Breakdown of cases:
Cebu City
– Total confirmed: 37,568 (+172 new)
– Total recoveries: 31,915 (+261 new)
– Total deaths: 1,162 (+4 new)
– Active cases: 4,491
Lapu-Lapu City
– Total confirmed: 11,909 (+86 new)
– Total recoveries: 10,193 (+77 new)
– Total deaths: 310 (+0 new)
– Active cases: 1,406
Mandaue City
– Total confirmed: 10,768 (+67 new)
– Total recoveries: 8,568 (+105 new)
– Total deaths: 305 (+1 new)
– Active cases: 1,895
Cebu Province
– Total confirmed: 31,059 (+205 new)
– Total recoveries: 23,789 (+265 new)
– Total deaths: 1,563 (+2 new)
– Active cases: 5,707

- Total Active Cases in Cebu: 13,499 (from 13,683)
- Total Confirmed Cases in Cebu: 91,304 (+530 new)
- Total Recoveries in Cebu: 74,465 (+708 new)
- Total Deaths in Cebu: 3,340 (+7 new*)
A total of 3,398 laboratory results were released for today.

- *As per DOH-7, the additional deaths in the report are not due to the overnight spike in deaths but due to more accurate data collection and validating efforts. Not all of those deaths occurred today but occurred more than a week ago.
