As the number of COVID-19 cases arises, Cebu City may all revert to Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) or Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).
On June 14, 2020, Cebu City will undergo evaluation of quarantine status whether or not it will revert back to a stricter classification.
If the number of COVID-19 cases in the city continues to rise, the worse that could happen is for us to return to ECQ status, if rapid transmission is proven, said Dr. Tony Leachon, special adviser to the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) under chief implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez.
In a Facebook Live session Sunday night, Leachon, said:
“IATF evaluation on June 14, pero kung mataas talaga ang datus pwedeng hindi mag hintay ng June 14 at ibalik ang ECQ o MECQ kung saan sila dati, depende po. May criteria ang national task force based sa real time and granular data.”
Cebu City was placed under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) in the first week of June. However, the increasing number of cases worried Leachon.
By June 6, Cebu City recorded 2,548 cases against San Juan City’s 2,537 cases. San Juan is the local government in the National Capital Region with the most number of cases.
He said that he has alerted his fellow members of the national IATF.
For four consecutive days from June 7 to 10, 2020, Cebu City has been logging at least 100 new confirmed COVID-19 cases a day. As of yesterday, June 10, Cebu City already has a total of 3,089 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 1,719 recoveries and 34 deaths. Total recoveries is at 55.65% ratio while death rate is only at 1.10%.
They say that the virus is here to stay. Therefore, we must all be cautious and practice proper hygiene, but most importantly, we must stay at home.
It’s quite unbelievable that these “specialists” continue to go against the common sense and the understanding that all the other specialists in the world already have about the virus.
All countries, even the ones who actually were affected by the virus, unlike the Philippines (in Cebu there were 34 deaths so far in 4 months – according to the mayor, just in Talisay, there were 27 deaths from VERTIGO in the same period, it’s just ridiculous fearmongering) are opening up and infection rates and specially death and hospitalisation rates are going down.
Lockdowns do very little if anything to stop the spread and just destroy people’s lives in so many other ways, causing many more deaths and suffering than the disease itself. This virus is now endemic, which means it will behave like any other flu virus from now on, coming and going, affecting only people that are either old or who have medical conditions. Young children and normal healthy adults have almost no chance of even getting symptoms from it.
Number of cases mean nothing if the vast majority of cases are asymptomatic. Also, people need to start understanding that there a lot of false positive cases with the current testing methods and that dead residues of the virus can be detected even after the person is already cured. This was proven by several scientific studies, apparently only in the Philippines that’s ignored.
The number of deaths and even people in need of hospitalisation remains extremely low, it doesn’t warrant the destruction of society and economy for a few hundred of cases.
This is ridiculous, how is it possible that Filipinos even allow that people who can’t even read data or look outside their bubble to see what other scientists are finding and saying, be in charge of their lives?
