Unlike the busy beach towns that crowd Cebu’s tourist trail, Sorsogon Highlands offers something different such as cool mountain breezes, cinematic road curves, and a breathtaking panorama where the mountains kiss the shimmering Tañon Strait. Come late afternoon, the highlands turn into a stage for fiery sunsets, with locals and travelers alike gathering to share grilled food, laughter, and quiet awe as the sun dips below the horizon.

How To Get There

Location: Barangay Sorsogon, Malabuyoc, Cebu, Philippines

  • By Car: From Cebu City, the drive to Malabuyoc takes around 3.5 to 4 hours. Simply open Waze or Google Maps, navigate “Sorsogon Highlands, Malabuyoc,” and let the road lead you southwest.
  • By Commute: Budget travelers and backpackers can take a Ceres bus bound for Malabuyoc from the Cebu South Bus Terminal. Once you reach Malabuyoc town proper, hire a habal-habal (motorcycle taxi) to take you up to the highlands. The ride is quick but thrilling, with winding roads that unveil sweeping sea-and-mountain views along the way.

It’s not just a place, it’s a mood. A spontaneous picnic on the roadside, a motorcycle rider pausing for drone shots, or a group of friends sipping soda as the skies turn gold. Here, time slows down, and the beauty of the moment takes over, making Sorsogon Highlands both a destination and an experience.
