The Sinulog Festival is one the grandest in the Philippines, and each year, more and more tourists visit Cebu to experience what it’s like to celebrate the culture of Sugboanons. However, every year as well, the local government units and authorities are up on their toes to maintain the safety and security of the devotees. Therefore, an executive order was signed with the following prohibitions indicated:

The festival itself is already filled with entertainment options, so, the city government took it up to themselves to moderate it by including the entertainment ban during the festivities.

  • Banned Areas: Streets where the Solemn Procession Route and the Sinulog Parade Route will take place
  • Ban Period: 6AM to 8PM of January 18 | 12AM to 10PM of January 19
  • Banned Activities: Concerts, shows, performances, gigs, events, activities with the use of loudspeakers and sound devices, and other similar activities.

If you own an establishment or business within the banned areas, don’t fret since after the prohibition period, you can begin the party for as long as you have a special permit from the Business Permit Licensing Office to organize or host the activity.

SECTION 3: REGULATIONS FOR ESTABLISHMENTS

The population in Cebu will become denser as folks gather for the varying processions and parades, which is why the executive order included a list of regulations that businesses must adhere to for a more comfortable and convenient Sinulog.

  • Establishments must open their doors for anyone in need to use the restrooms, be it a paying customer or not.
  • CCTVs must be in full operation and must conform with the City Ordinance Numbers 2381, 2509, 2515, and its other amendments.
  • Surrounding premises must be maintained and upkeep during and after the establishment’s business operating hours.
  • The regulations will be effective on January 18 and 19.
