Connecting Minds: REMspace Achieved Two-Way Communication via Lucid Dreaming

No! This isn’t a plot from Christopher Nolan’s Inception, nor any plot from a new sci-fi novel or a film, this is actually real, experimented by a neurotechnology company, REMspace Inc., specializing in sleep enhancement and lucid dreaming.

In the psychology subfield of oneirology (the study of dreams), a lucid dream occurs when the dreamer becomes aware they are dreaming. REMspace recently announced a revolutionary breakthrough in neurotechnology and oneirology: using specialized equipment, two participants successfully exchanged simple messages while lucid dreaming.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKED

The researchers tracked the participants’ brain activity while they slept. When the first person entered a lucid dream, the system sent a made-up word into his dream through earbuds. He repeated it in his dream, and the response was recorded. Later, when the second participant also entered a lucid dream, she received and confirmed the word from the first participant, marking the first dream-to-dream communication. And we’re not talking sci-fi plots.

The REMspace team have created a system called Remmyo, a dream language that can be detected using special sensors. These sensors can pick up sound made during dreams, allowing for real-time communication while dreaming, although these claims haven’t been reviewed by other scientists yet.

Michael Ramduga, the founder of REMspace, believes that in a few years, dream communications would become a normal part of life. However, the scientific community is still waiting for more evidence to support these exciting, yet unverified ideas.
