#Halal: There’s a New Muslim-friendly Cove in Boracay!

Cheers to more halal-friendly vacations in the top destination of the Philippines!

The Department of Tourism, in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Malay, Megaworld Hotels & Resorts, and Muslim collaborators just launched Marhaba Boracay, the first halal certified Boracay cove for Muslim and Islam travelers on September 10, 2024!

The aim is to have a Muslim-friendly tourism destination especially since the country has received multiple recognition in terms of being an Emerging Muslim-friendly Destination among non-OIC countries in the Mastercard-CrescentRating Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) for two consecutive years, 2023 and 2024.

Prominent political and tourism figures attended the ribbon-cutting event such as the recently awarded DOT Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, Municipality of Malay Mayor Frolibar Bautista, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Philippines His Excellency (H.E.) Dato Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino, Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the Philippines Her Excellency (H.E.) Megawati Dato Paduka Haji Manan, and other LGU representatives.

With this exciting development, Boracay continues to evolve, providing a range of experiences for all visitors while maintaining its reputation as a premier tropical paradise.
