Santo Niño, Nihilak: Miracle or Not?

Imahe sa Santo Niño, nihilak?

People in Sitio Tayud, Barangay Basak Pardo, Cebu City are shocked after an image of the Sr. Sto. Niño is said to have shed tears on Friday, July 26, 2024. Some residents claim they saw the Sto. Niño cry, and this led many to visit the house where the image is kept, hoping for miracles and to offer their prayers.

The image of Sr. Sto. Niño has been with the Carulasan family for 16 years. Their 9-year-old child was the first to notice the tears, which were clear drops coming from one of its eyes. Believing in the power of Sto. Nino, many locals have visited the Carulasan home to touch the image and wipe away the tears, hoping it will bring them healing. This event highlights the deep faith and devotion of the community toward Sr. Sto. Niño.

Despite the growing attention, the Church is advising people to be careful and not to immediately believe in miracles without a thorough check. There have been previous cases where religious icons were believed to dance but were later found to be false.
