X (formerly Twitter) has recently updated their guidelines and policies to become even more user-friendly. But one policy struck Netizens in shock – the Adult Content Policy!
Before OnlyFans (O.F.) became a global sensation as a platform for adult content creators, Twitter was one of the key places where nude content was posted and shared, although not officially. Nevertheless, it set the stage for what would later become a widespread phenomenon and a change of policy.
On X.com’s Adult Content Policy guideline, it is stated that adult nudity or sexual behavior can be posted on the website, “You may share consensually produced and distributed adult nudity or sexual behavior, provided it’s properly labeled and not prominently displayed.”
Reading more into the policy itself gives the X.com users details on what they can and cannot post in terms of the latest update; these includes the following:
- full or partial nudity;
- close-ups of genitals, buttocks, or breasts;
- explicit or implied sexual behavior;
- simulated acts such as sexual intercourse and other sexual acts.

Because explicit content isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, X.com (formerly known as Twitter) has implemented protective measures to help users control the content they see while scrolling. One such feature is the “content warning,” which plays a crucial role in maintaining a safer browsing experience. With it, users will see blurred posts if ever it’s an explicit or sexual content. If a user clicks on the post or agrees to view NSFW (Not Safe for Work) content, the blurring is removed, revealing the image or video. This feature empowers users to make informed decisions about the content they wish to engage with, enhancing their overall experience on the platform.
In addition to content warnings, X.com also encourages its users to actively participate in maintaining a respectful community. Users are urged to report any unmarked explicit content they come across. This community-driven approach helps the platform quickly identify and manage inappropriate posts, ensuring that unmarked explicit content is properly flagged and handled.
