If there’s another thing people look forward to during Cebu’s Annual Sinulog, it’s the street parties. People highly anticipate the music, a huge crowd, and streets filled with cheers and “prititit” of the youth and young at heart.
However, this year’s Sinulog might be pretty different.
Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama announced that there will be no street parties during Sinulong 2024.
“Mag street party ta pero way bino, way inum, pero ganahan diay ka mag street party ka nga tubig ra?” the Mayor said on January 3, 2024 during a segment on the Sugboanon Channel.
“No display of liquor. Let’s Enjoy Sinulog spiritually, socially, and have fun,” he added. Moreover, the mayor of Cebu City also said that people who get caught with liquor in public or those who organize street parties will be apprehended.
Many Cebuanos have aired their disagreement and frustrations, with some saying that Cebu will be a ghost town during this year’s Sinulog.
What do you think about the Mayor’s announcement? Do you agree that there should be no street parties during Sinulog? Let us know!
Rama is an idiot. No idea of people’s wants and just thinks of his own agenda. Shouldn’t he be in Singapore or Australia anyway?
