We asked the People of Cebu about their dreams and whether they think it’s dead or not; and here’s what they shared…

In life, we all have dreams and aspirations that we want to reach, and it is our driving force to achieve our ambitions. Dreams can motivate, inspire, and transform lives, and they give us curiosity and enthusiasm to discover newfound interest and potential personal growth. On the other hand, the journey is not always smooth and sometimes it is caused by harsh realities of life that cause it to wither, fade or to be dead forever. These are the dead dreams or dying ambitions, which is why some of our ambitions will forever be buried and forgotten.
Bisa’g dili ko ganahan sa akong course ug trabaho, mao gihapon ako’ng gipili kay mao ma’y ilang ganahan.
Dying Ambition

Self-doubt, predetermined life choices and careers, proving yourself in the family, are some of the reasons why people’s ambition or goals fade away. Research indicates that after age 35, most people start to lose interest in advancing in their careers. This is sometimes mentioned as the moment when people may begin to place other facets of their lives above advancing their careers. Some people also face mid-life crisis, where people around 40 are often seen and observed affiliated with their reevaluation of life goals and a possible decrease of ambitions.
Killing my ambition just to follow what they want, I really hate when I see them disappointed.
Following your Dreams

Oh, I remember JoKoy’s show about following your dreams, funny it may seem, but it is true, it is a practical career, a really good paying job, but it is not what you dream of. We understand our parents are just guiding us for our future, but it is predetermined, they kill your dreams instantly when you say something about your dreams. Are the predetermined dreams that our parents gave us really the best of us? Does it really make us who we are or did they rob us of our happiness?
Is it your dream or other people’s dream for you?
Passion and Purpose

But having a dying or dead dream does not mean it ends there, yet it is only the beginning. Sometimes, the dreams and ambitions that we did not achieve have their purpose. Why did we not get it? Maybe you were not given a chance on that dream, but you are redirected. People let go of their dreams for their family, and accept their profession passionately. Some people learned to love their profession because of some life-changing moments where faith gave them a purpose on why they are being redirected.
I let go of my dream, pero I am learning to love my profession.
Sometimes giving up or killing a dream is not so terrible as it seems; it may be a calling, you could pass your dream on to those closest to you, or you could still rekindle your ambition for the person you care about the most.
