Kandungaw Peak stands quietly, an underrated hike that rewards hikers with some of the most dramatic panoramic views in southern Cebu. This towering cliffside gem is one of the province’s highest accessible peaks, rising nearly 900 meters above sea level.
With its rock formations, rolling fog, and cliffs that drop straight into the valleys below, Kandungaw Peak feels like a scene pulled out of a fantasy film, but it’s real, and it’s just a few hours from Cebu City.

A Short But Steep Hike to the Top

The hike to the summit is brief, only around 30 minutes, but don’t let the short duration fool you. The trail starts with a grueling stair climb that sends most hikers into silence. It’s steep, it’s intense, and it’s a proper workout. Fortunately, the concrete path is well-maintained, with stone steps laid out for easier footing.

How To Get There?
Location: Maloray, Dalaguete, Cebu

By Commute: From Cebu City, ride a bus to Dalaguete at the Cebu South Buss Terminal, get off at. Mantalongon junction, then take a habal-habal to Maloray for the Kandungaw Peak jump-off.

While Kandungaw Peak doesn’t yet match the fame of Osmeña Peak or the crowds of Cebu’s top waterfalls, that’s exactly its appeal. It offers solitude without sacrifice, scenery without filters, and a reminder that adventure still exists in the quieter corners of the island.
If you’re looking to escape the noise, stretch your legs, and experience Cebu from a different perspective, Kandungaw Peak is worth the climb.
