NUSTAR PRESENTS TASTE CEBU 2025: WHERE THE OLD MEETS THE NU AND BEYOND

Cebu City, Philippines – NUSTAR Resort Cebu pays homage to Cebuano cuisine with Taste Cebu, a grand celebration of the cultural heritage and vibrant future of Cebu.  Rich in meaningful content, this year’s food and drink showcase on January 17, 2025, is a foray into the kitchens of both artisans of heirloom Cebuano fare and today’s progressive professional chefs. 

Adding a unique twist to this signature NUSTAR event is a foretaste of Cebu’s future culinary landscape, presented by talented award-winning students from top culinary schools in the city.

Launched in June 2024, Taste Cebu this year is timed in January as a fitting tribute to the largest and most spectacular festival of the country, Cebu’s Sinulog 2025.

Local artisan chefs from across the island will showcase their exceptional craftsmanship through traditional favorites, allowing audiences to experience the old Cebu on a plate. Representing the ‘NU’ Cebu are top students from various culinary schools and institutions who will present their modern interpretations of these dishes, celebrating Cebu’s dynamic and evolving food landscape. Adding to Taste Cebu’s creative personality, NUSTAR chefs bring innovation to the table by blending the flavors of the old and new flavors of Cebu. Attendees will be treated to a unique gastronomic journey, savoring the tastes of Cebu’s past, present, and an inspired fusion of both, all set against a stunning visual spectacle that celebrating the overall beauty of Cebu.

As Taste Cebu promises not only a visual and sensory feast but also a platform to shape the future of the food and beverage scene in Cebu, stellar chefs from NUSTAR—Chef Martin Rebolledo, Jr., Chef Rolando Macatangay, Chef Randell Mark Jugalbot, Chef Lloyd Rommell Cabalhin, Chef Alvin Antonio, Chef Angelo Belloso, and Chef Genaro Moleno —will introduce fresh, innovative approaches to traditional Cebuano cuisine, skillfully elevating classic dishes while seamlessly blending them with contemporary flavors. Their creative interpretations are set to create a harmonious fusion that honors the past while embracing the future.
