The house is believed to have been constructed in the 1800s, serving as a residence for the prominent Dela Serna family, whose influence played a vital role in the development of Opon–what is now Lapu-Lapu City.

The Significance of C. Mangubat Street

C. Mangubat Street, where the house is located, has its own historical significance. Formerly known as Called Mangubat, the street dates back to the 17th century when Gabriel Lazaro de Mangubat, a descendant of Lapu-Lapu, established a settlement in Opon.

This road became a vital part of the island’s early development, with the Dela Serna family contributing to the region’s political and economic growth.

Architectural and Cultural Heritage

The house features traditional Filipino-Spanish architecture, with its wooden panels, capiz shell windows, and intricate carvings that reflect the craftsmanship of its time.
