Esther is back, and this time, the Orphan saga takes a darker turn in the upcoming “Orphan 3.” Normal Golightly, co-CEO of Dark Castle Productions, shared, “Dark Castle is excited to announce another terrifying chapter in the Orphan saga.”

While details about the plot remain under wraps, we can recall that the final scene of the first film ended with Esther’s neck being snapped by the mother’s kick, sending her falling into the icy waters below. However, it’s important to note that the real daughter of the protagonist was present during that scene, witnessing the brutal struggle between Esther and her mother, including the stabbing and bloody fight. This has sparked fan speculations that the daughter might become the antagonist in the sequel—perhaps even a “spawn” of Esther—struggling with the trauma she witnessed as a child.

The True Story Behind Orphan’s Sinister Inspiration

The character of Esther was inspired by a real-life case involving a girl named Natalia Grace. She was born with a rare form of dwarfism and was adopted by Michael and Kristine Barnett. However, the Barnetts later accused Natalia of lying about her age, claiming that she was actually much older than the 9-year-old she said to be.

After an investigation, it was determined that Natalia’s dwarfism and genetic makeup were consistent with her age, and she was not pretending to be a child. The situation grew even more disturbing when the Barnetts claimed that Natalia had threatened them during her time in their home. “One night, I opened my eyes, and Natalia was standing at the foot of the bed with a knife in her hand,” Michael Barnett said.

In the end, the Barnetts were unable to give sufficient proof to support their accusations, and they were issued a gag order, preventing them from discussing the case in the media.
