DTI Enhances E-Commerce Consumer Support with E-Report Complaint System

E-Report na ang mga labad, Sugboanons!

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) launched a new online complaint system, called “eReport,” on Tuesday, November 6, 2024, to handle consumer issues related to e-commerce transactions and procedures. The feature, integrated into the eGovPH app, aims to enhance consumer protection in the growing digital economy.

DTI Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque shared that the system aligns with the Philippines’ quick rise as Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing internet economy. “This highlights our nation’s impressive growth merchandise by researching from USD26 billion to USD31 billion, a remarkable 20 percent increase.”

In 2022, the DTI received over 12,000 complaints related to online transactions, including issues with defective products, deliveries, and misleading advertising. Uy stated that the eReport system, developed in collaboration with DTI and DICT, provides a proper platform for addressing consumer grievances, such as privacy violations and unfair practices.
