Villains are made through the eyes of society.
Stray dogs are becoming a nightmare for drivers. If someone accidentally hits and kills one, who does social media blame? Of course, the driver—because who could stay mad at the poor little creature that just lost its life?
This is a serious issue, especially for two-wheeler riders. Here’s a real example: A motorcycle driver recently got into an accident caused by stray dogs. It resulted in a fractured wrist, minor injuries, and fortunately, the damage to his vehicle was minimal. But it’s easy to imagine how things could have been much worse. Sadly, the dog didn’t survive.
IT’S NOT THE DRIVER’S FAULT
Whenever news spreads about stray dogs killed on the road, social media floods with comments like, “Please, drive slowly,” or “They have families too.” But let’s face the facts—strays can cause accidents as well. No one considers the trauma the driver might go through after such incidents, especially when lives are on the line. It’s not just the driver’s fault; these dogs wander unpredictably on the streets, putting themselves and others at risk. If the media really cares about those street dogs so much, why not do something about it, like adopting them.
HERE’S A SOLUTION
It’s time to shift the narrative. Instead of simply blaming drivers or romanticizing stray animals, a more balanced discussion is needed. The authorities seriously need to take some kind of initiative to keep them off the street and hopefully provide them safety and shelter instead of letting these animals and people suffer. An animal control system is very necessary. The city pound might seem harsh to you, but it’s often the only way to protect these animals. Don’t like the idea? Visit the pound and feel free to adopt—every rescued animal makes a difference.
Blaming drivers after accidents solves nothing and overlooks the root of the problem. To prevent future tragedies, both for people and animals, consider our thoughts we wrote above. Have any violent reactions, let us know in the comments.
