On Friday evening, the Department of Health Central Visayas (DOH-7) released its official, consolidated data of the COVID-19 cases in the region as of January 28, 2022.
The whole island of Cebu — Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, and Cebu Province — recorded 1,013 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, 618 new recoveries, and 21 new deaths. Cebu’s total active cases jumped to 15,136 (from 14,766).

– Total deaths: 1,571 (+8 new)
– Active cases: 7,777
Lapu-Lapu City
– Total confirmed: 16,082 (+119 new)
– Total recoveries: 13,721 (+0 new)
– Total deaths: 478 (+1 new)
– Active cases: 1,883
Mandaue City
– Total confirmed: 14,572 (+128 new)
– Total recoveries: 12,830 (+161 new)
– Total deaths: 451 (+3 new)
– Active cases: 1,291
Cebu Province
– Total confirmed: 43,152 (+345 new)
– Total recoveries: 36,341 (+208 new)
– Total deaths: 2,626 (+9 new)
– Active cases: 4,185

A total of 3,164 laboratory results were released.
