Sugboanons just can’t resist from dipping into the tuslob-buwa indulgence especially now that the experience is taken to the next level by the newest tuslob-buwa hub in town.
8Flix & Chill in Cebu City is giving every tuslob-buwa patriot a boost of the famed and original Cebuano delicacy. It offers its guests with unlimited tuslob-buwa set and other mouth-watering street food pleasures.
Their tuslob-buwa set comes with ten (10) pieces of puso (hanging rice) and unlimited lamas. A set is good for two people (well, that’s if you’re settled already for just a set). And because this tuslob-buwa hub is committed to give everyone a one-stop-place for the other street food favorites, they also delight their customers with dynamite, stuffed eggs, siomai, longganisa, ginabot, chicken proven, ngohiong, and even iced candies.
Buwa Lamaw
More than that, they take pride in their innovative Cebu’s Buwa Lamaw – food-to-go bowl consisting of rice, boiled egg, siomai, and pig’s brain gravy (buwa) as toppings.
8Flix & Chill won’t just name their store as such without proving its truth. Living up to everyone’s expectations, the place provides everyone an al fresco dining. A local newspaper even described the place as “a simple and industrial look with comfortable seating.” This rings true to both branches – Talisay City and Cebu City branches.
Indeed, it’s a fresher take of the usual tuslob-buwa establishments that are jam-packed. Dense crowd, although a good sign that business is growing, can sometimes make the place a little noisier, hotter, and not any more conducive for a meal. At 8Flix & Chill, we are guaranteed of a relaxing place for dining. Its Talisay branch can accommodate up to 15 diners at the same time while its Cebu City branch can accommodate up to 30 customers with social distancing.
In a report, one of the founders said that she was inspired to share the taste of her grandmother’s version of tuslob buwa so she recreated it, leading her to open the first branch in Talisay.
For those who are unfamiliar with the food, tuslob-buwa is a popular Cebu street food that originated in Pasil area in Cebu City. The name roughly translates to “dip in bubbles,” a reference to how it is eaten. Diners dip pusô or hanging rice into the thick and bubbly froth and pop the salty, greasy pieces into their mouths.
It is made with pork liver and brain which get sauteed with garlic, shrimp paste, onions, and chili. It’s a fun go-to food destination with friends since it’s prepared on a stove right in the middle of the dining table. You can dive into this fast and flavorful meal when the mixture thickens into a bubbly stew.
