We’ve got to hand it to June for it’s giving us some of the most beautiful nights in the sky.
Not one but five astronomical events make a spectacular view for this month. On June 9, there’s a rare and beautiful alignment of planets and a conjunction of crescents that awaits us sky watchers.
Rare alignment of planets
Seen on the east late evening on June 8-9 is a line-up of celestial wonder like no other with the planets Jupiter, Saturn and the waning moon.
“This is an excellent opportunity to see them close together,”
– Ian Musgrave, Amateur Astronomer
- Starting time: 7:00PM (Philippine time) on Monday, June 8
- Best time: 12:58 to 1:21AM (Philippine time) on Tuesday, June 9
And if you’re lucky, you can spot the Milky Way directly overhead past 11:00PM. This only happens once every 20 years, so better not miss it.
