Planning a trip to Taiwan just got easier for Filipino travelers. The Taiwanese government has officially extended its visa-free entry program for Philippine passport holders for another year, allowing eligible Filipinos to visit the country for up to 14 days without applying for a visa. The renewed privilege gives travelers more flexibility when planning vacations, food trips, and quick international getaways. Read on to learn when the extension takes effect and what it means for Filipino tourists.

Visa-Free Program Extended Until 2027
The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in the Philippines announced that the extension will take effect on Aug. 1, 2026, and will remain valid until July 31, 2027. During this period, eligible Philippine passport holders may enter Taiwan without a visa and stay for up to 14 days, provided they meet the existing requirements under the visa-free program.

A Long-Running Travel Privilege
Taiwan first introduced its visa-free entry program for Philippine passport holders in November 2017 as a pilot initiative. Since then, the program has been renewed several times, making travel between the Philippines and Taiwan more convenient for thousands of tourists, business travelers, and families visiting loved ones.

A Reciprocal Agreement
According to TECO, the latest extension reflects the growing cooperation between Taiwan and the Philippines. The office said the decision was made in reciprocity for the Philippines’ own visa-free entry program for Taiwanese passport holders, which was introduced in July 2025. The arrangement aims to encourage stronger tourism, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people connections between the two destinations.

What Filipino Travelers Should Know
While a visa is no longer required for eligible visitors, travelers must still comply with Taiwan’s existing visa-free entry conditions. This includes holding a valid Philippine passport and meeting immigration requirements upon arrival. Visitors are also encouraged to check the latest travel guidelines before their departure to ensure a smooth entry into Taiwan.

Easier Getaways for Filipino Tourists
With the extension now confirmed, Filipinos have another year to enjoy Taiwan’s famous night markets, scenic mountains, modern cities, and rich cultural attractions without the added step of securing a tourist visa. The continued visa-free program is expected to support the growing number of travelers between the Philippines and Taiwan while making short overseas trips more accessible and convenient.
