Cebuano Doctors Represent the Philippines at Alma Academy 2026 in Lisbon
From Cebu to Lisbon, two Cebuano doctors proudly carried the Philippine flag at one of the international aesthetic medicine industry’s most anticipated educational gatherings.
Dr. Michael Vince D. Busa and Dr. Karl Anthony D. Busa of Skin Doctors Dermatologic and Aesthetic Medicine were the only delegates from the Philippines at Alma Academy 2026, held in Lisbon, Portugal, from April 24 to 27.
The international academy brought together medical practitioners and aesthetic experts from different parts of the world for several days of scientific learning, technology updates, and professional exchange.
For the Busa brothers, attending the academy was more than an international appearance. It was an opportunity to bring the latest knowledge in laser and energy-based treatments back home to their patients in Cebu.

On April 25, guests stepped into the glamour of the Roaring Twenties for the lavish Great Gatsby Gala. The Busa brothers arrived dressed for the occasion in elegant, period-inspired ensembles that complemented the evening’s Art Deco setting.
The following night, April 26, Alma Academy transformed into a whimsical world for its Alice in Wonderland-themed celebration. Never ones to take a costume theme lightly, the Cebuano doctors embraced the occasion with playful, carefully styled looks—bringing both imagination and a distinctly competitive spirit to the festivities.
The two fellowship nights allowed delegates to connect outside the lecture halls, celebrate different cultures, and build friendships within the international medical and aesthetic community.
