Mactan-Cebu International Airport is set to install 20 electronic immigration gates beginning in September, with operations targeted by December. The plan includes 12 e-gates for arriving passengers and eight for departing travelers.
Faster Immigration
According to MCIA Chief Executive Officer Alexander Neri, the gates will use passport and biometric technology to make immigration processing faster and more seamless. The system will undergo integration, testing and adjustments before full operations.
More Airport Upgrades
The e-gates are part of MCIA’s wider technology upgrades, including Cebu Connect and baggage monitoring. Cebu Connect has already shortened connection times for eligible passengers, while more improvements in check-in and baggage handling are being planned.
