Mahayahay Beach is a long stretch of shoreline with fine sand and shallow, clear waters. Unlike commercial resorts, this beach keeps things minimal, no heavy structures, no loud crowds, just open sea breeze and a quiet local setting.

The area is also known for seasonal water conditions. From October to May, the sea is generally calmer, making it good for swimming. From June to September, waves can become stronger, attracting skimboarders and visitors who enjoy rougher coastal conditions.

One of the biggest advantages of this beach is its budget-friendly setup.

• Entrance Fee: None as of writing

• Cottage Rental: ₱200 per cottage

• Skimboard Rental: ₱100 per day

There are limited amenities on-site, so visitors usually bring their own food, drinks, and picnic supplies.

Swimming is the main activity here, especially during calm tide conditions when the water becomes clear and shallow. Visitors also enjoy beach volleyball, skimboarding, and simple picnics under the trees or cottages.

Local fishermen sometimes sell fresh catch along the shore, giving visitors a chance to experience a more authentic coastal lifestyle. Camping is also allowed in some areas, making it a simple overnight escape for groups who prefer a raw beach experience.

Location: Mahayahay Beach, Argao, Cebu, Philippines

By Car: From Cebu City, drive south via Natalio Bacalso Avenue. Continue passing through the towns of Talisay, Minglanilla, San Fernando, Carcar City, Sibonga, and Dalaguete before reaching Argao. Once you enter Argao town proper, continue along the main highway until you reach the section near Sogod-Argao boundary where local signs or navigation apps (Waze/Google Maps) will point you toward Mahayahay Beach. Turn off the main road toward the coastal access road leading to the beach area.

By Commute: From the Cebu South Bus Terminal, ride a bus heading south bound for Argao, Dalaguete, Oslob, or Bato via Oslob route. Travel time from Cebu City to Argao usually takes around 2.5 to 3 hours depending on traffic and stopovers.

Ask the conductor to drop you off at Argao town proper or near the Mahayahay Beach junction. Once you arrive along the national highway in Argao, you will need to take a short local ride. You can hire a tricycle near the highway or public market. Just tell the driver “Mahayahay Beach” and they already know the location. The ride from the highway to the beach area is usually short, around 5 to 10 minutes. If you are coming during weekends or holidays, buses are frequent, but expect slightly longer travel time due to traffic in Carcar and Sibonga areas.
